A sound meditation, often referred to as a sound bath, is an immersive and intentional listening experience. At a Sound Meditation each person is laying down or seated in a comfortable and supported position. Typically with a blanket and eye pillow. After a few minutes of guided breath meditation the remainder of the experience is filled with singing bowls, shruti box, ocean drum, gong, monochord, tuning forks and other ethereal sound makers. When we draw focus to the breath we begin to tune into presence and from this place we are able to intentionally listen to the many different qualities of each instrument. Through this awareness our brainwaves begin to shift and slow, calming the nervous system and relaxing the body allowing for meditation and deep relaxation.
